Payment schedule and methods
Bills are mailed mid-February. Accounts over $300 are split into three installments: the first due 30 days after mailing, the second due Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and the third due Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Accounts of $300 or less are payable in a single installment, 30 days after mailing. No reminder notices are sent.
You can pay through your bank's online bill payment (the City's preferred method - use "Ville Vaudreuil-Dorion" as payee and your 18-digit reference number), in person or by ATM at most Desjardins caisses or banks, by mail (cheque payable to "Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion"), or in person at City Hall by cash, cheque, or debit card. Credit cards are not accepted for tax payments. A late or dishonoured (NSF) payment carries a $20 fee, and unpaid balances accrue a combined 13% interest-and-penalty rate from the missed due date.
Property assessment roll
Unlike most of the surrounding MRC (which the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges assesses directly), Vaudreuil-Dorion conducts its own property assessment - the City mandates an independent firm, Évimbec, a member of the Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec, to keep the process at arm's length from City administration.
The current roll follows Quebec's standard 3-year cycle and is in effect from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027, based on market values as of July 1, 2023. You can look up any property's assessed value anytime by address, cadastral number, or roll (matricule) number; notaries and financial institutions get expanded access (account statements, tax confirmations) through the fee-based AccèsCité service.
Contesting your assessment
You can file a "demande de révision" if you disagree with your property's assessed value, using the form available online or from the Service des finances et de la trésorerie, along with the filing fee set by Règlement no 1711.
The statutory right to contest applies to the first year a new roll takes effect - for the current 2025-2027 roll, that window closed May 1, 2025. Outside of that, a new right to contest generally only arises if you receive a supplementary assessment notice (for a renovation, new construction, or change of category), which carries its own specific deadline printed on that notice.

Tax credit for seniors
Quebec's "Subvention pour aînés relative à une hausse de taxes municipales" is a provincial program, administered by Revenu Québec (not the City), for seniors whose home saw a sharp assessment increase. The City sends an informational form to residents who appear to qualify shortly after mailing the annual tax bill; if you don't receive one, you may not be eligible. No City-level low-income or first-time-homebuyer property tax credit was found.

Other charges you might confuse with your tax bill
The "welcome tax" (droits de mutation) is billed separately from your annual property tax account - a single payment due 30 days after you receive the transfer-of-ownership invoice, not part of the installment schedule above.
School tax is not a City tax at all - it's billed separately by the Centre de services scolaire des Trois-Lacs or the Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l'île de Montréal, depending on which board serves your address.
Access your account online
Espace citoyen (which replaced the older BCITI+ portal) lets you view and pay your tax account online, or through the City's mobile app; first-time registration asks for information from your latest tax bill.
